An Ambiguous Heterotopia

Goodbye Midwest Airlines

Best Care in the Air

I am VERY UNHAPPY that Midwest Airlines is out of business. I don’t have any confidence that Republic Airlines (who grounded all the Midwest jets and fired all the pilots and attendants) will make my trips home as pleasant as Midwest has done over the years. Message to Republic Airlines: It’s not about the cookies!

Well….. FORTUNATELY Midwest Airlines HASN’T died and is still running as usual. Get over your ego boost and keep flying Midwest, because you’re not gonna get any better quality air travel for another airline. Republic Airlines has been flying most of Midwest Airlines’ routes for a while now so you should be used to us. We’re the same as we’ve always been and we enjoy serving the customers of the Midwest…

How is this complaint possibly about my ego?
I have nothing against the Republic crews, but I do take issue with the firing of the Midwest crews, who were consistently awesome. And the old Embraers that Republic flies are not configured the way Midwest’s new 717s were, and not as comfortable in general. Even when Midwest started charging for the wider seats I didn’t complain, because they make flying a better experience. Republic just gives you that “fighting for an armrest with a stranger” experience you get with every other cut-rate airline.
